La Cala Resort - Golf frequently asked questions

Is there a dress code on the golf courses?
Are metal spikes allowed?
Players will not be allowed on the course wearing collarless or sleeveless shirts, non tailored shorts, denims and must wear recognised golf shoes (metal spikes not allowed).

What happens if the weather is bad?
No refunds will be made due to inclement weather, unless the course has been officially closed.

Where to I report to when I arrive?
At the pro shop

How long before playing do I have to check-in?
Check in at the pro shop must be at least 30 minutes before tee time.

Can I practice beforehand?
People wishing to practice or warm up prior to their tee off time, can do so at the David Leadbetter Golf Academy just a two minute drive by car from the clubhouse. There is a grass driving range and tokens can be purchased at the academy.
Additionally, a short game practice area with putting green, bunkers and practice net is located near the clubhouse.

Do you recommend walking or using a buggy?
If you are quite fit you do not have to use buggy.
Most of our clients use buggies. Due to the distances between some greens and tees we always recommend using a buggy on Campo Europa.

Can I hire trolleys, shoes and golf clubs?
Hand trolleys, shoes and golf clubs are available for rental at the pro shop.

Are there marshals and time limits?
An average round at La Cala Resort takes 4 hours and 20 minutes. Our marshals are available on the course to assist you.

Are there refreshments available on the course?
The Halfway-House is to be found between holes 9 and 10 on Campo America and Campo Asia. A catering buggy circulites on Campo Europa.

Can I buy balls on the course?
Golf balls (different types and price ranges) can be purchased in the pro shop prior to tee off. It is prohibited to buy balls on the course.

Are there any toilets on the course?
You can find toilets on following holes:
Campo Asia – holes 1, 4 and 17
Campo America – holes 6 and 9
Campo Europa – holes 4, 13 and 15

May I drive on the fairways?
Buggies are only allowed on the paths unless otherwise stipulated.
A blue flag, which allows use on fairways, will only be considered if the player presents a suitable medical certificate to the starter. The decision will also be subject to the prevailing weather conditions.

How does the GPS works?
The starter will show you.

How are the distances marked , to the front or to the centre of the green?
To the front of the green, except on the Par 3 holes, where it is to the centre

Where to I look for any lost property?
In the pro shop

After the round, where can I check tee times & make another reservation?
At the pro shop or our Golf Reservations Call Centre.
The Golf Reservations Call Centre is open 7 days a week from 08:00 to 20:00 hours to attend your requests (in person, by phone, e-mail or fax)

As a two ball, can we be assure to play on our own?
Players who are not willing to be made up to a four ball must pay the prevailing rate for the total tee time.

Can I book as a single player?
Reservations for single players can be made 24 hours prior to the tee time.

Do I have to bring my handicap certificate?
Handicap certificates (men 28, ladies 36) will be requested by the starter.  Players with higher handicaps than the ones permitted, may reserve specially allocated times, subject to availability.

Recommendations for playing in the warm weather?
Use sun block, wear a hat or cap, drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol.
