News: Parent & child Summer Trophy

The Parent & Child Summer Trophy took place recently at La Cala Resort (Mijas, Málaga). This is one of two Parent & Child Trophies organised each year with the other held at Easter.

The competition allows family members of two generations to enjoy a round of golf together and to socialise with other participating families after the round.

Greensomes (Stableford) was the format played, which allows both players in the team drive-off from their respective tees during the round. The best drive is chosen and the play is continued with alternative shots with that ball until the hole is finished. The team decides who plays the second shot and starts the alternative shots from there.

The overall results were first-rate, with 10 teams scoring 40 or more points. Emilio and Victor de Castro from Madrid came in with the winning score, 47 points. The second position went to Oscar & Antonio Gonzalez (46 points). They never miss the Parent & Child Trophies played at La Cala Resort.

Four of the best five teams were all from Madrid but taking holidays in Costa del Sol. The Nearest the Pin prizes were won by Axel Durrels, Oliver Brown & Jaime Urrutia.

In their winning speech, Emilio & Victor thanked La Cala Resort for the initiative of organising the event. They hope to be back to defend their title next year.

The date for the Parent & Child Easter Trophy is 24th April 2011 on Campo Asia.

3rd Alejandro & Axel Durrels (44 points)
4th Marta Parages & Iñigo Urrutia (44 points)
5th Carlos & Carlos Ituiño (44 points).
