News: La Cala Resort Property Owners Championship 2010

Los Altos owners have reclaimed ‘Bragging Rights’ from Colinas del Golf residents as a result of Northern Ireland native, Liz McGuire winning the IX Property Owners’ Championship. This was a very close competition with each category winner scoring 36 points.

Playing off 16, Liz McGuire is the firth lady over 9 years to secure the title with Jill Davies (Wales) and Afke de Boer (Holland) taking second and third places. The men’s category was won by Michael Robbins (England) from Real Alta Vista, with a handicap of 24 with club captain, James Reid (England) and Brendan Walsh (Ireland) taking second and third places.

The guests’ section went to 12-handicapper Sean Jewett again with 36 points. Sean is a son last year’s champion Alan Jewett (USA).

It was a good day for accuracy for David Evans (Wales) from Terrazas del Golf, who won nearest-the-pin on the tenth hole of the Campo Europa course.

The competition was followed by tapas and the prize-giving in the clubhouse with many new owners using the opportunity to get to know their fellow residents. Almost all European countries are now represented in the cosmopolitan community of owners making La Cala Resort one of the leading residential golf resorts in Europe.
