Under the banner "In Mijas, you gain!", the area of tourism of the Townhall of Mijas, together with representantives from the Costa del Sol Tourist board and La Cala Resort, presented a sports and tourist events programme that will attract more than 3000 people.

Mijas will become, in 2011, the Costa del Sol capitan of sport.

The organisation by La Cala Resort of the qualifiers of the World Golfers Championship, is one of three major international sporting events which will take place in Mijas, that portend an excellent tourist impact with the arrival of thousands of tourists.

Jose Navas, La Cala Resort´s Leisure Manager, informed that qualifiers are to be held in various regions in Spain until June. During the months of July and August a competition per week will be hosted on the three courses at La Cala Resort. The Spanish final will be played at the Resort no the 27th and 28th August, where the five players who will represent Spain in the world final in South Africa in October will be known.
