The closing ceremony saw the team from Thailand crowned as Champions of the World with China a close second position and Indonesia finishing in third place.
Nils Nordh (Chairman & CEO World Golfers Championship, Ltd ) gave a moving speech
paying tribute to the late great Sven Tumba , the founder of the World Golfers Championship. Svens wife Mona Tumba was also present and personally thanked everyone for their kind words and thoughts throughout the week.
Many other dignitaries where present at the closing ceremony including her Royal Highness Princes Birgitta of Sweden, Dr. ZL Mkhize (KwaZulu Natal Premier), MEC Michael Mabuyakhulu (Minister of Economic Development & Tourism), MEC Ina Cronje (Minister of Finance) and Mr. Wessel Witthuhn (President of IFA Hotels and Resorts - Africa & Indian Ocean).
The organization also thanked Mr. Dayle Hayes and his team for arranging the golf and scoring to perfection, WGESA with Craig Clay-Smith and Beverly Theron and their entire staff for their dedication to the world finals 2011.
This years event has probably being the best in the 17 years history of World Golfers Championship thanks to an excellent hotel, The Fairmont Zimbali Resort & Lodge, the golf clubs played, Zimbali CC, Umlhali CC, Princess Grant CC and the Durban CC.
La Cala Resort would like to congratulate Thailand for winning the World Golfers Championship Final Team Event in the beautiful KwaZulu-Natal region of South Africa.
