Sean Corte-Real named new director of La Cala Resort

La Cala Resort reveals its leading manager in charge of the leisure and golf complex. Sean Corte-Real has become the Resort’s new director, with extensive experience as a manager in resorts around the world. He comes to give La Cala Resort a greater international dimension and to continue on the path of excellence that has led it to be considered as one of the best golf and leisure complexes in Spain.

Sean Corte-Real is a professional with a prolific career that has taken him to different continents, including Europe, and Latin America. To his credit, he has spent more than 18 years dedicated to the management of golf resorts with great international prestige. Corte-Real is a recognized expert in the management of high level and world-class facilities, knowledge that is complemented by a new vision of the hospitality and golf; a complete proficiency that he wishes to apply to La Cala Resort as soon as possible. He also has a Master’s from the IE Business School of Madrid.

His strategy is based on three basic pillars. On the one hand is motivating the team, a figure – that of the internal client – which for the new director is a relevant organizational goal. Secondly, he wants to increase the satisfaction of the external client, exceeding its expectations and search for experiences. Finally, improving the general management of La Cala Resort at a private company level has also been proposed.

Corte-Real began his career as a tourism professional. However, he spent four years competing as a player in high level tournaments throughout Europe before finally moving to hotel management. His first significant position was at Vila Sol Spa & Resort in Vilamoura in the Algarve (Portugal). After a while, he ended up becoming a golf director. Corte-Real laid the foundations of his future career, making the Complex stand out with numerous awards, including the ‘Best Beach Destination’ at the 2013 World Travel Awards.

In search of new challenges, he arrived at Iguassu Golf Resort in Foz do Iguaçu (Brazil) where he was responsible for promoting, as Project Manager and Golf Director, the sports facilities in one of the most emerging destinations in the country. From there, he went to Las Colinas Golf & Country Club, in Alicante (Spain) where he took the position of Director of Operations in one of the complexes considered to be a European flagship in the world of golf.
